Last Friday, actor Anne Heche, long-time lesbian partner of Ellen DeGeneres, crashed her Mini Cooper car into a house and an apartment complex. The house was nearly destroyed by the fire than ensued. Heche barely survived and was severely burned. Her ex male boyfriend, Thomas Jane, says she is in stable condition. Police say she had an open vodka bottle in the car. Fifty-nine fire fighters struggled more than an hour to save her life. Not long before her wreck, she had bragged on a podcast about how much alcohol she regularly consumed.
As the story played out, long buried and even unknown facts about her life surfaced. Her father was a well-known Baptist minister and choir director when Anne was growing up. He was also a closet homosexual who cruised gay bars at night. Anne claims that her father raped her and gave her herpes when she was just a child. Her father eventually died of AIDS. Her mother, who had to have suspected something, nevertheless dug into her religious beliefs and later told Anne she was going to hell for being a lesbian. The death of her father triggered her brother, Nathan, just 18, to commit suicide by driving into a tree. And even more death stalked the family.
Before Anne was born, she had a sister, Cynthia, who died from a heart defect at two months old. In the midst of all this tragedy, Heche, a saved and baptized Christian, sought the help of a psychic medium, Tyler Henry. The psychic said that she had a message from Anne’s dead brother: “He’s proud that you’ve been able to talk about these things and discuss these things, because you’re doing it for him too. And he appreciates that.”
As if all this were not enough pain, Anne’s sister, Susan Bergman, died of brain cancer at the age of 48. Bergman was a well-known writer who lectured at New York University, Northwestern University, and the University of Notre Dame. Her widower, Jud Bergman, was killed at age 62 when his taxi was hit by a drunk driver. Anne’s only living sibling is Abigail, a jewelry designer.
It is obvious that before this car wreck, Heche’s life has been a wreck, including a psychotic break some years ago when she walked on to a private property in only her underwear. She told children that she was taking them to heaven on a spaceship. Heche has also admitted she has DID, multiple personalities, and has one alter-ego she calls Celestria.
Now you can see why I believe that Anne Heche is possessed by demons of death. Of the five siblings in the family, three are dead and Anne nearly killed herself last Friday. Plus, her father died young as did a brother-in-law whom I just referred to. Somewhere in her dad’s bloodline there must have been a powerful curse of death and incest. If the truth were known, it’s likely she wasn’t the only one in the family who was incested. As to her mother’s crusade against Anne’s lesbianism, the mother would have been better to look in the mirror and see what kind of fantasy world she was living in. I’ve counseled hundreds of dysfunctional families like this and in most cases one or more family members lives in abject denial. The issue here isn’t Anne’s sexual choices, but the demons that infected all or most of the family, demons of death that a Baptist family forty years ago would have been ill-equipped to handle. Their theology wouldn’t have allowed it. And demons of death now have at least four, and nearly five, victims to show for their efforts. Our prayers are with Anne that she will reach back to her Christian faith and somehow separate it from the craziness of her family. Anne Heche needs our prayers, and she needs deliverance before her demons once again attempt to kill her.
