Here’s how to hijack the devil when ministering deliverance. To read my first two treatments on this topic series, click on How Satan Hijacks the Mind and Can the Devil Read Your Mind? You can turn the tables on him. Pay close attention to the person receiving ministry and use these simple techniques:
- Keep your eyes on the person receiving ministry. In the sermon on the mount, Matthew 6:22-23, Jesus said, “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness (NKJV)!” This can be understood metaphorically, or literally. I take it literally during deliverance. When a demon is presenting himself, you can see a subtle shift in the eyes. Darkness takes over the light of Christ in the person’s soul.
- Watch reactive body language. As you get closer to the truth, the person’s body may shake or twitch. Their feet get restless. They breathe more heavily. They make hand and arm movements. They may take a more aggressive posture.
- Detect what the devil is thinking. The Holy Spirit can reveal things that can only be known supernaturally. But you can also make decisions on what to do based on observation. If certain things you say get a visceral reaction, you may be on the right trail. Challenge the demons with the Word of God, anointing oil, and a cross.
All these hijacking techniques prepare you for the final interrogation of the demon, his name, how he got there, who is with him, and what he does to the supplicant. Instead of having your mind hijacked by the devil, you can hijack the demons, bring them under subjection to the authority of Christ, and cast them to the pit.
