More Dumb Things Demons Say

Through the years I’ve noted hundreds of other silly sayings of evil spirits. In a prior blog, Dumb Things That Demons Say, I shared with you a few of the most common things they’ve told me. I’d like to share more dumb things demons say during heated deliverance sessions. These three demonic declarations are also wily and clever:

1. I AM NOT LEAVING.
2. HE/SHE WANTS ME TO STAY.
3. I HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE HERE.

Each most likely has no root in fact and provides no legitimate reason for an evil spirit to continue tormenting someone. Why, then, do demons say such things? Let’s break down these three demonic responses to deliverance and explain how ludicrous they are.

#1 DUMB THING THAT DEMONS SAY – “I AM NOT LEAVING!”

Of course that is what you’d expect a demon to say. They have to put up a front of bravado. The nature of evil is to be stubborn even in the face of potential defeat. What’s the best way to respond when a demon refuses to go? It won’t do any good to merely keep telling the demon to go. That’s going to result in a tit-for-tat exchange. It’s better to demand that the demon define its right to remain and thereby justify the claim that it will not leave.

Remember the battle with evil spirits may involve spiritually legal jousting. But remain firm when you know that a demonic claim is false, that there is no basis for the evil spirit remaining. If the possessed individual has confessed Christ as savior, repented of all past sins, broken all relevant soul-ties, renounced bloodline curses, and cut off all connections to the occult, the claim “I am not leaving” is probably bogus.

#2 DUMB THING THAT DEMONS SAY – “HE/SHE WANTS ME!”

Who really wants a demon? Of course, there are people in Satanism and the occult who deliberately invite demons to enter. But those cases are extremely rare. Most demons invade by unexpected situations, and the possessed person is oblivious of the time and place when the demon entered. For practical purposes, I always assume that no one actually wants a demon.

The way to meet this demonic objection is to respond with the question, “Why would this person want to have you inside their soul?” In a certain sense people may want a demon because they like the feeling of devilish power or they know, for example, that a spirit of Anger helps them to control others. The best way to resist the claim “He/she wants me,” is to stand firm against that. Because the one receiving ministry is reaching out to Jesus for help, the supplicant’s desire for freedom is in itself is a proof they do not want a demon.

#3 DUMB THING THAT DEMONS SAY – “I HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HERE.”

This claim is propositionally an either/or matter. We call this binary logic. It can have only one of two possible values—true or false. This concept of binary reality is fundamental to science, mathematics, and logic. Something can’t be both true and false. Apply this principle to spiritual warfare. Either the demon has a right or it does not. Responding to this claim is simple. Demand that the demon tell you what that right is.

If the demon doesn’t have a right it will put up an obstinate front and try to change the subject. Be firm when confronting this kind of rebellion. Demons don’t throw in the towel without a fight. Turn the conversation back on the demon by forcing them to cite specifically why their assertion is credible. A fundamental fact of deliverance is that demons can only stay if they have legal rights, so your goal is to determine whether or not any such right exists. Consider the claim of a right to remain in the host as an act of bravado, but don’t take it seriously.

Just watch out for dumb things demons say! Remember, demons say these things to deceive, distract, and delay deliverance.
